I will be acquainting myself with HP, Dell, and Asus notebooks with an eye on future purchases. Users browsing this forum: SSD is the way to go, as the very obvious random access speed increase sequential access speed doesn’t matter here gives a very welcome boost to those old machines. What burns my butt is that i ibm t60 sata for sata2 support before I purchased the T60p’s. Search everywhere only in this topic. Users browsing this forum: For t61 there will be probably a BIOS fix. It doesn’t matter if the Kingston or the Hynix is in the bottom xata.
I also remember that a Satq raid controller choked it to ibm t60 sata 1 speeds. The pessimist fears this is true. I remember reading a review of the x25 in which it was benched on a Asus motherboard that use the ICH7 chip.
A failed update generally means a system board replacement at the owner’s expense.
I generally don’t upgrade BIOS unless there’s something in it that affects me, e. The infamous Envidia chip failure.
